Which Book Should We Read from Malaysia?

Things have been insanely busy for me lately, but I’m happy to finally be able to get the vote up so we can read a great book from Malaysia in April.

Thanks to the club members who sent in suggestions, we were able to round out our list of books to vote on by randomly choosing two additional reads as you can see here.

But before we get to the vote, I’d like to introduce you to a Malaysian poet with whose work I’ve fallen in love. I stumbled upon the poem below & thought it painted such a lovely mind picture.

Purple

Wake before the dawn
and you will witness the
world’s slowest embrace

The moon and sun hold hands
distant lovers sharing space.
Hues of violet and amber
spill over the horizon.

The morning is a reminder that
even though the night is full of terrors,
dark will always give way to dawn.
