Which Book Should We Read from Norway?

We received 6 great book suggestions from club members this month & randomly chose 2 of them to include in the vote. (See that random pick recorded here.) The 4 other books will be included in the Reading List on our web site next month.

As a reminder, it’ll be a quick vote this go around in order to ensure that the book is selected by the first of December.

But before we get to the vote, check out one of my favorite cookbooks below. While not just strictly about Norway, it’s beautifully evocative of the region & the culture.

This cookbook was a nominee for Best International Cookbook & the James Beard Award, & was also the Art of Eating Prize longlist finalist. The writing is gorgeous as are the photos. Many of the ingredients are commonly found, but put together in delicious & unique ways—unique if you’re unfamiliar with Nordic cooking, that is. However, “Darra Goldstein’s recipes defy the stereotypes of Scandinavian cuisine. This cookbook isn’t about rotten shark or Swedish meatballs; these dishes beautifully capture a people who cannot help but be completely in touch with the elements, the land, and the sea.” (Dan Barber, Executive Chef of Blue Hill)

Highly recommend!

Now onto the vote.
